The three of us never wanted this to be yet another Christian blog (of which there are many). We wanted and still desire this to be a forum of theological friendship. A place where you too can be invited into the conversation, where important topics can be discussed but in a different way - a distinctively British way perhaps, but, more importantly, a way shaped by being Theologians in Service.
We published this blog after a great deal of conversation and reflection. There are bad ways to do Christian blogging and there are better ways. Put simply: we want to do this better. We want to do this with authenticity. We want to do this differently. But most of all, we want to do this well.
With that in mind it now seems fitting - given 6 months have passed - for the three of us to take a 'time out'. To chat about how it's all gone. To indulge long and probably unnecessary tangents, just as we always do when we get together. To perform spontaneous sketches about the state of academic theology (the sort of thing only we find funny and which makes our wives roll their eyes having eavesdropped). But, most importantly, to pray for one another and refresh the very friendship that holds all of this together. We also want to pray for you guys, our readers, and to ask God to show us where next. It's all rather exciting.
So please do rest assured - we've got some great posts lined up. Do bear with us over the next fortnight. It might be a little quiet. We can still be reached over @longdefeatblog on Twitter but otherwise the blog will be taking a well-earned rest. But most of all, please be excited... there's a lot more to come!! ;)
